Sweet and Salty Candied Bacon Crackers

Servings: ~24 crackers

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 25-30 minutes

Total Time: ~40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve of buttery crackers (like Club or Ritz)
  • 8 slices of bacon, cut into thirds
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional, for a slight kick)
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (optional, for extra crunch)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  3. Place a piece of bacon on top of each cracker.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  5. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the bacon-topped crackers.
  6. Drizzle maple syrup or honey over the top of each cracker.
  7. (Optional) Sprinkle chopped pecans on top for extra crunch.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Keep an eye on them in the last few minutes to prevent burning.
  9. Remove from oven and let them cool for 5-10 minutes before serving (they will crisp up as they cool).

Serving Ideas:

  • Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
  • Pair with a cheese board for a fancy touch.
